Systemic Design and Writable Policy
A short essay looking at the problems around legible urban policies from the point of view of systemic design. Published in The Pursuit of Legible Policy: Encouraging Agency and Participation in the Complex Systems of the Contemporary Megalopolis.
This publication is the result of a binational collaboration in which urban laboratories from London and Mexico City worked together to identify and propose tools and methodologies to make policy legible. The project was supported by the Newton Fund, the British Council, IIMAS - UNAM and CONACyT.
The collaboration included a 3-day workshop with members of Laboratorio para la Ciudad, Future Cities Catapult, Royal College of Art, design studio Superflux, and three independent Mexican practitioners: Pablo Kobayashi, Iván Abreu and myself.
